What course do I need to start a career in property management in Victoria?
To work in property management, you need to complete the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice with a focus on the Property Management Stream. This qualifies you to work as an Agent’s Representative under a Licensed Estate Agent.
What does a Property Management Agent’s Representative do?
You’ll manage day-to-day rental operations including tenant communication, inspections, maintenance coordination, lease administration, and trust account handling.
How long does it take to finish the course?
The course is fully self-paced. You have up to 12 months to complete it, but many students finish earlier depending on their availability and experience.
What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 18 years old, not currently living in Australia on a student visa (subclass 500-series) and have at least a Year 10 high school level equivalent of English language, literacy and numeracy to complete the assessments.
What’s the difference between an Agent’s Representative and a Licensed Estate Agent?
An Agent’s Representative can perform property management and sales duties under the supervision of a Licensed Estate Agent. To become fully licensed, you need at least 12 months of experience as a representative and must complete the Diploma of Property (Agency Management).
What happens after I finish the course?
Once you complete the Agent’s Representative Course, your employer can authorise you to begin work. They’ll notify the Business Licensing Authority (BLA), and you’ll need to provide your certificate, transcript, and a current National Police Check.
