What course do I need to start a career in real estate sales in Victoria?
To work in real estate sales, you need to complete the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice with a focus on the Sales Stream. This qualifies you to work as an Agent’s Representative under a Licensed Estate Agent.
What does a Sales Stream Agent’s Representative do?
You’ll be able to list and sell residential properties, conduct open homes, negotiate sales, provide appraisals, and represent clients in property transactions. You’ll also assist with contracts and marketing—but you cannot operate your own agency.
How long does it take to finish the Sales Stream course?
The course is fully self-paced. You have up to 12 months to complete it, but many students finish much sooner depending on their availability and prior experience.
What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 18 years old, not currently living in Australia on a student visa (subclass 500-series) and have at least a Year 10 high school level equivalent of English language, literacy and numeracy to complete the assessments.
What’s the difference between an Agent’s Representative and a Licensed Estate Agent?
An Agent’s Representative can sell and lease property under the supervision of a Licensed Estate Agent. To become fully licensed, you need at least 12 months of experience as a representative and must complete the Diploma of Property (Agency Management).
What happens after I finish the course?
Once you complete the Agent’s Representative Course, your employer can authorise you to begin work. They’ll notify the Business Licensing Authority (BLA), and you’ll need to provide your certificate, transcript, and a current National Police Check.
